This digital catalogue documents the curatorial framework, selected works by Simona Kasprowicz, archival materials, and installation views from Transposition.
Transposition brings together multiple trans histories rooted in Warsaw through oral histories, community and institutional archives, private collections, and contemporary works by trans artists. Rather than arranging these materials as a single account, the project keeps their different temporalities and vocabularies in view: testimonies of social life, organising and collective spaces sit beside images, recordings and works made in the present.
Materials from the Lambda Archives, the Trans-Fuzja Foundation and private collections include traces of Miss Trans competitions, trans evenings, support groups, early collective initiatives, the founding of Trans-Fuzja and Anna Grodzka’s election to Parliament. Recorded personal testimonies return these events to particular voices and circumstances. They do not form a linear story of progress; they remain overlapping records of changing languages of gender, self-identification and community memory.
The project treats archival research as an active relation: archival fragments are revisited, re-read and placed in dialogue with contemporary artistic practice. What emerges is a field of Warsaw trans histories whose social and cultural meanings continue to be negotiated beyond official historical institutions.
