Camera Femina Foundation

Camera Femina was an independent feminist–queer cultural foundation established in Lublin in 2019, dedicated to strengthening the participation and visibility of women, queer, and trans creators in the arts, culture, and public life. Operating at the intersection of artistic production, critical education, and grassroots organising, the organisation developed autonomous spaces beyond dominant institutional models.

Accessibility was built into the foundation’s operational core from its inception, implementing Polish Sign Language (PJM) translation, audio description, barrier-free venues, and free public admission to counter economic exclusion. While rooted in Lublin through annual festivals and community workshops, the foundation expanded its territorial scope to Warsaw in 2024 with public cultural tasks mapping trans histories and urban memory.

Simona Kasprowicz was a central organiser, curator, and producer within Camera Femina from 2019 to 2024, serving as Foundation President from 2022 to 2024. Her practice shaped the organisation’s artistic and political trajectory, building long-term production frameworks for interdisciplinary initiatives including Demakijaż, Queerz Get Loud, and Transposition.
